UPDATE ON DEVELOPMENT
With every passing day, the Dry Stack (second unit) comes closer to becoming a reality. In the last two weeks, the roof and side metal claddings of this Unit have been installed. As you read this report that comes out in early May 2012, the second unit would be ready for inspection by the relevant authorities. We fully expect the TOP (temporary occupation permit) to be issued by the middle of May. In anticipation of this, we have tentative plans to hold a simple ceremony to mark the official date of the completion of the entire Dry Stack.

The next step would be the allocation of dry berths for the Members' boats in Unit 2. Spaces in Unit 1 have been almost fully assigned when we received the first TOP in January this year. It's a beautiful sight to see all the boats neatly stacked and being easily accessible to the boat owners or their official nominees only.
With regards to the extension to the Marina Lodge, work is still in progress, albeit somewhat slowly, due to unforeseen difficulties on the soil condition on Zone A. Our contractor, in concert with our consultant and architect, is doing their best to overcome these problems and the work schedule has fallen behind by several weeks. Our revised timeline for the Accommodation Wing extension is now pushed back to a completion date sometime in the fourth quarter of 2012. October would be a likely target for the completion of the new four-storey block. There will be some 60 rooms and suites in the upgraded Marina Lodge when everything is completed.
Although Christmas is still some months away, it seems likely that some celebrations to mark the completion of the Development projects of 2011/12 would be in order towards year end. Members' views are being sought in connection with this. Do let your RSYC Committee know, if you have some ideas to make the event a memorable one. Early planning is always a good idea.
I would like to thank all Members, and especially boat owners, for their patience and understanding during the past year as we fulfill the Club's mission to build first-class facilities for the enjoyment of Members and their families. I am especially indebted to the members of the current Committee who labored long hours at meetings to see through these Development projects.

UPDATE ON DEVELOPMENT
The first of the two dry stacks received its TOP (Temporary Occupation Permit) in early January and this has enabled management to start allocating berths for RSYC members' boats efficiently in this completed dry stack. This will clear the ground for more spaces for the construction of the second dry stack. Installation of the mainframe steelworks on the Zone C site for the second dry stack is expected to be completed by mid-March. For various reasons not all boats have been allocated berth space and this issue of allocation can be expected to be substantially completed when the second dry stack building is completed.
The installation of the roofing and side metal cladding will follow and this is expected to be completed by the end of March. We can expect to receive TOP for the Zone C dry stack building by early April.
As for the Accommodation Wing, we seem to be having endless problems with the ground conditions. Piling work continues and is expected to be completed by end February. This will then be followed up by the RC sub-structure works. The construction timeline calls for the main RC structure works to begin in March. The four-storey new Accommodation Wing is expected to be substantially completed in late August or early September. We can expect to have TOP granted and handover achieved shortly thereafter. When completed, the expanded Marina Lodge will have about 60 rooms and suites together with common facilities for members and their guests to enjoy.
The second boat forklift ordered from the Wiggins Company was delivered in early February. This second forklift has been upgraded to take even heavier boats than the first forklift. These two forklifts have now been handed over to management to operate. Management has been asked to implement a good regular maintenance schedule to ensure problem-free usage for years to come. We thank members for their patience and understanding these past months when the area was under construction.
We are entering a new era in giving members the best of service and facilities in the storage and maintenance of their pleasure boats. This is the realization of a long-cherished dream and we re-dedicate ourselves to maintaining the traditions of a yacht club with a distinguished heritage.

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE - 20 OCTOBER 2011
Dear Members, I'm happy to report that one half of the Dry Stacker building (Zone B) is almost completed and we are now waiting for the Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP). If everything is in order we can expect the TOP to be issued by early November 2011. Upon receipt of the TOP, the plan is to move the boats out of the Zone C area to the new stacks and surrounding area in order that construction of the 2nd half of the Dry Stacker can begin immediately. We are still on track and the target date for the completion of the entire Stacker building is by end of December 2011.
The first of the two forklifts ordered from Wiggins Corporation (www.wigginslift.com) has arrived from the USA. The Marina Bull LoPRO forklift will be assembled on site and commissioning is expected by end of October 2011. Training on the use of the specialty forklift will be conducted immediately thereafter by management. Boaters and members who want to have a better understanding of how our new operation will be like can view a similar marina dry stack operator at www.baysidemarine.com. There are many such operators around the world.
Construction of the Accommodation Wing extension continues unabated. The diversion work for existing underground facilities has been completed and work has begun on the lift shaft for the 2nd lift that will service the expanded Marina Lodge. We are still looking at the original completion date of end of July 2012 for the handover of this Wing. When completed, the expanded Marina Lodge will have about 60 rooms and suites.
Members and friends are encouraged to visit our RSYC website at www.rsyc.org.sg regularly for photos and news on RSYC.

ENFORCEMENT OF EXCLUSIVITY AND REVENUE
At RSYC, we treasure the patronage of members and at the same time wish to maintain the exclusiveness of our Club for our members.
This was introduced with effect from April 2009, when guests using our F&B facilities must be accompanied by members. And all along, our members continued to enjoy a 10% discount in their bills, a practice implemented several years ago. The RSYC committee & management has studied closely the effect of this policy for more than one year now and wish to announce that this 10% discount will be discontinued.
At the same time, for certain categories of patrons of our restaurants and bars, a 20% surcharge (on top of menu prices) will be introduced with effect from 1 September 2010 for the following categories of diners:
- Holders of our 1-day Visitors card
- Persons holding Trial Memberships
Members will note that we will continue to give our members a distinct price advantage whenever they dine or entertain in RSYC. We look forward to your continued support, as always.
Thank you.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF QUARTERDECK
